    Das liegt laut Miles an einer speziellen Verschaltung im Kopf, dem sogenannten Ruhezustandsnetzwerk oder Default Mode Network. Während Lena beim Joggen im Flow-Zustand ist und ihre Beine wie von selbst laufen, schaltet das Gehirn den Nachbrenner ein. In diesen Momenten der scheinbaren Pause arbeitet das Gehirn im Hintergrund an Problemen, an denen man sich im Büro oft krampfhaft und ohne Erfolg festbeißt, da der Fokus dort zu stark eingeengt ist.

    Das Ruhezustandsnetzwerk, in der Wissenschaft auch Default Mode Network genannt, ist ein System im Gehirn, das besonders aktiv ist, wenn wir uns nicht auf eine spezifische Aufgabe konzentrieren. Miles beschreibt es als den Zustand, in dem das Gehirn quasi Pause macht, aber eigentlich Höchstleistungen in Sachen Kreativität erbringt. Es hilft dabei, mentale Blockaden zu lösen und Verbindungen herzustellen, die im starren Arbeitsalltag oder beim Starren auf ein weißes Whiteboard oft verborgen bleiben.

    Um mentale Blockaden zu lösen, ist es wichtig, das Gehirn aus dem Hamsterrad des krampfhaften Nachdenkens zu befreien. Lena beschreibt das Problem, dass man in Meetings oft keine Ergebnisse erzielt, während die Lösung im Flow-Zustand beim Sport plötzlich auftaucht. Die Gehirnforschung legt nahe, dass wir Innovation fördern, indem wir dem Ruhezustandsnetzwerk Raum geben. Anstatt sich krampfhaft anzustrengen, helfen Phasen der Entspannung dabei, den kreativen Muskel zu trainieren und Geistesblitze zuzulassen.
