    “

We don’t actually store electricity at all. Instead, we perform a sort of alchemical trick where we force that kinetic energy to transform into a quiet, resting state called chemical potential energy.

How does a battery work and if you can explain how a battery works then how does a large cell or a large battery like an electric vehicle? How is electricity able to be stored and then used later it doesn’t make any sense to me.

    자주 묻는 질문

Batteries do not actually store electricity in its raw form; instead, they store chemical energy. Through a process called battery cell chemistry, a chemical reaction occurs between the internal components—the anode, cathode, and electrolyte. When you connect a device, this reaction triggers a flow of electrons, converting that stored chemical energy into the electricity needed to power your electronics or vehicles.

While the fundamental science of how batteries work remains the same, electric vehicle battery technology involves scaling. An EV battery is not just one giant cell; it is a massive pack composed of thousands of individual battery cells working together. These cells are managed by sophisticated software to ensure energy storage is efficient, safe, and capable of providing the high voltage required to move a heavy vehicle.

Energy storage is explained as a chemical process because electricity itself is difficult to hold onto for long periods. By using specific materials that react with one another, we can 'park' energy in a stable chemical state. When the circuit is closed, the chemical energy to electricity conversion begins, allowing the stored power to be used later when it is actually needed for your car or phone.

Inside a battery cell, ions move through an electrolyte while electrons are forced through an external circuit. This movement is what creates the electrical current. In rechargeable batteries, like those found in EV battery storage, this process can be reversed by applying power, which pushes the ions back to their starting position, effectively resetting the chemical potential for future use.
