Engineering Graphics and Design, or EGD, is considered the international language of technical drawing. It provides a precise way to communicate complex ideas and technology, such as engine parts or architectural designs, without the ambiguity of words. By using this universal language, an engineer in one country can send a file to a manufacturer in another and ensure the final product is built perfectly to the exact millimeter.
In Grade 10, students transition from simple sketching to communicating complex three-dimensional realities on flat surfaces. The curriculum introduces the grammar and vocabulary of the physical world, covering various fields such as mechanical engineering, civil engineering, and electrical work. It is a foundational year where students shift their thinking to master the technical standards required to represent real-world objects accurately on paper.
Geometric projection is a core method used in EGD to represent 3D objects on a 2D surface.
