Klaus Schwab is a German engineer, economist, and author best known for founding the World Economic Forum and shaping its annual Davos meetings into a major venue for global policy and business dialogue. Klaus Schwab was born in Ravensburg, Germany, on March 30, 1938. He studied at the Humanistisches Gymnasium there before moving into a notably interdisciplinary education: engineering at ETH Zurich, economics at the University of Fribourg, and, in 1967, a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School. Early work on factory floors, with the German Machine-Building Association, and then on the managing board of Sulzer Escher Wyss gave him a managerial perspective grounded in industry rather than theory alone.
