経歴と著者の歩み

Kate Bowler is a historian, writer, and professor whose work brings together academic study and public reflection on faith, suffering, and ordinary life. Raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in a family of academics, she came to Macalester College with an outsider’s curiosity about American culture and found her intellectual center in religious studies. She went on to earn a B.A. from Macalester, a Master of Arts in Religion from Yale Divinity School, and a Ph.D. from Duke University, later joining Duke Divinity School, where she teaches American religious history. -Make Me A Gardener
quote
I hate optimists. But I do love deeply hopeful people
-Make Me A Gardener
quote
One of the reasons I love your brain and listening to you put all these hard things side by side, is there such a superhighway we create between the most important things that happen, like the most meaningful things that happen to us and then a desire to immediately simplify it into a series of lessons, and I am like one hundred percent anti-lessons because they’re, in my experience, usually the weaponized piety of the extremely certain
-Counting Your Somethings
quote
For it is our vulnerability that is the truest thing about us, the place where mutual connection is possible, where competition ends and community begins
-A Blessing for Being Human
quote
There is no cure for being human…but for each other, we are all good medicine
-A Blessing for Being Human
quote
Our lives are simply built with paper walls, and we need our neighbors and communities and one another to hold together our collective fragility
-In My Life, There’s No Cure For
quote
You are loved in all your particularity. Your people light up at the sound of your voice—your voice—with its quirks and humor, your eye-rolls and your weird snack preferences. You are not generic. You are irreplaceable
