Christopher Paolini is an American fantasy novelist best known for The Inheritance Cycle, beginning with Eragon, and later for To Sleep in a Sea of Stars. His work centers on epic fantasy and science fiction, has sold tens of millions of copies worldwide, and has been translated into numerous languages.

経歴と著者の歩み

Christopher Paolini was born on November 17, 1983, in Southern California and grew up mostly in Paradise Valley, Montana. Homeschooled by his parents, he read widely, wrote poems and stories, and developed an early fascination with dragons after discovering Tolkien and other fantasy writers. The world of Eragon began as teenage daydreaming, but his imagination was unusually tactile as well as literary: to better understand the kind of world he wanted to depict, he forged knives and swords, made a bow, built survival shelters, tracked game, and camped in the Beartooth Mountains. That combination of voracious reading, practical experiment, and close attention to setting became a durable signature of his fiction.
