What is a "Level 10 Meeting" and why is it used in ministry?

A Level 10 Meeting is a disciplined, 90-minute weekly framework designed to move leadership teams away from unproductive "support group" style meetings and toward effective problem-solving. Research shows that many leaders rate their meetings as a four out of ten; this system aims to raise that quality to a ten. By following a specific agenda—including a segue, scorecard review, and a dedicated "IDS" portion—ministry teams can stop "firefighting" daily crises and instead focus on the strategic goals that actually move their mission forward.

How does the "Scorecard" differ from "Rocks" in this framework?

The Scorecard and Rocks represent different levels of organizational health. The Scorecard consists of 5 to 15 key weekly metrics, such as the number of first-time visitors or discipleship appointments, which serve as the "vitals" of the ministry. In contrast, Rocks are the "big-picture" priorities for a 90-day quarter—the major projects like launching a new small group or finalizing a retreat. While the Scorecard tracks day-to-day health, Rocks ensure that "important but not urgent" strategic goals do not get buried under administrative tasks.

What does the "IDS" process stand for and how does it work?

IDS stands for Identify, Discuss, and Solve, and it is considered the "beating heart" of the meeting. First, the team must "Identify" the root cause of an issue rather than just addressing a symptom. Next, they "Discuss" the issue in an environment of psychological safety where everyone can offer honest perspectives. Finally, they "Solve" the issue by deciding on a tangible course of action or a specific task. The goal is to prioritize the three most important issues and solve them permanently rather than talking around many problems without reaching a resolution.

Why is it recommended that the "Visionary" leader not facilitate the meeting?

Visionary leaders are often characterized by their passion, big dreams, and tendency to think out loud, which can lead to tangents that derail a timed agenda. Because they often dislike being "boxed in" by a clock, they may struggle to maintain the discipline required for a 90-minute session. It is more effective to have an "Integrator" or someone who loves process serve as the Facilitator. This allows the Visionary to participate fully and share creative insights without the burden of managing the stopwatch or the agenda.

How can a ministry maintain its spiritual heart while using a "business-y" structure?

The framework is intended to be "scaffolding" that supports the spiritual mission rather than replacing it. By using a disciplined system to handle administrative "debt" and logistical hurdles, leaders free up more time for actual ministry and discipleship. The script suggests keeping the "human element" alive during the Segue (sharing personal wins) and the Headlines section (sharing student transformation stories). Ultimately, accountability is viewed as a form of stewardship; by running an efficient organization, the team honors the mission and the people they serve.
