发动机的四冲程循环是一个精密的四拍子节奏。第一拍是“进气”,活塞下行像针筒一样吸入空气和汽油混合气;第二拍是“压缩”,活塞上行将气体压缩以蓄力并提高温压;第三拍是“做功”,火花塞点燃压缩气体产生爆炸,推动活塞产生动力;第四拍是“排气”,活塞再次上行将燃烧后的废气排出。
这主要源于两者点火方式和压缩比的不同。柴油机没有火花塞,它是通过极高强度的压缩使空气温度升高,达到柴油自燃点的“压燃”方式工作。由于柴油机的压缩比通常比汽油机更高,爆发出的瞬间力量(扭矩)也就更大,因此更适合大货车等重型设备。
缸径是气缸的直径,冲程是活塞跑动的距离。如果冲程比缸径长,活塞跑动距离远,产生的力矩更足,适合低速扭矩表现好的日常代步车;反之,如果冲程短而缸径大,活塞往复速度更快,发动机转速就能拉得极高,适合追求高功率输出的赛车。
V型排列主要是为了平衡性能与空间利用。相比于直列发动机,V型排列将气缸分成两排并呈一定夹角,使发动机整体更短、更矮,便于安置在车头。此外,V型设计可以让两边往复运动的力量互相抵消,使发动机运转起来更加平顺且富有质感。
发动机无法启动通常可以归纳为“油、电、压”三个方面的问题。最常见的是电瓶电量不足导致起动机带不动曲轴。此外,还需检查油路是否通畅(是否存在气阻)、传感器是否因振动移位导致ECU报错,以及紧急停机按钮是否被意外按下。
