While shyness is approximately 30% genetic, a significant 70% of how you interact with the world is shaped by your environment and habits. This means the vast majority of your social ease is within your control, allowing you to build credibility with yourself over time regardless of your innate traits.
Anxiety often stems from an internal monologue that functions as a constant loop of disaster scenarios. This cycle occurs when the mind overestimates external threats while drastically underestimating your own ability to cope. To break this pattern, you must recognize that confidence is built by doing scary things even while feeling fear, rather than waiting for the anxiety to disappear before taking action.
Building credibility with yourself is the foundation of true self-confidence. Instead of viewing confidence as an innate trait, it should be seen as a result of specific habits and environmental choices. By consistently engaging in the 'skill tree' of confident behaviors and managing your response to social threats, you prove to yourself that you are capable, which eventually replaces the 'What if?' loop of disaster scenarios.
