The Power of Attraction: How Your Thoughts Create Reality
Imagine waking up tomorrow with the realization that everything in your life-your relationships, finances, health, and happiness-is entirely within your control. Not through superhuman effort or luck, but through something far more accessible: the power of your thoughts. This is the revolutionary premise of "The Law of Attraction" by Jerry and Esther Hicks, a book that has transformed millions of lives since its publication.
The book has garnered celebrity followers from Oprah Winfrey to Will Smith, who credits these principles for his success in Hollywood. Its cultural impact extends far beyond self-help circles-the concepts introduced by Abraham-Hicks formed the foundation for the global phenomenon "The Secret," which sold over 30 million copies worldwide. What makes this work so compelling is its practical approach to spirituality, offering concrete processes rather than vague platitudes.
Whether you're skeptical about metaphysical concepts or already a believer in manifestation, this book presents a framework that's both profound and surprisingly logical: your thoughts create your reality through the Law of Attraction, and by understanding this law, you can deliberately create the life you desire.
Capitolo 2
Understanding the Universal Laws That Shape Our Reality
At the heart of this transformative philosophy lies three Eternal Universal Laws that build upon each other: the Law of Attraction, the Science of Deliberate Creation, and the Art of Allowing. These fundamental principles work in concert to shape every aspect of our experienced reality, from our relationships to our material circumstances.
The Law of Attraction-"That which is like unto itself, is drawn"-serves as the fundamental principle governing all experiences. Like a cosmic radio signal, your thoughts emit vibrations that attract matching experiences into your life. When you focus on abundance, you attract abundance; when you dwell on scarcity, you attract more scarcity. For instance, when you consistently appreciate your current financial situation, even if modest, you begin attracting more financial opportunities. This law operates without exception, responding to your thoughts whether you're remembering past events, observing present circumstances, or imagining future possibilities.
Think of it as a magnetic funnel drawing in people, events, and circumstances that vibrationally match your dominant thoughts. The longer you focus on something, the more powerful it becomes as a point of attraction. This explains why similar experiences tend to cluster together-positive or negative. For example, when you're having a "good day," positive experiences often snowball: you might find a parking spot easily, receive unexpected good news, and encounter particularly friendly people, all because your positive vibration is attracting more positive experiences.
What makes this system particularly elegant is your built-in guidance mechanism: emotions. Your feelings serve as real-time indicators of your vibrational alignment. When your thoughts align with your Inner Being's perspective (your higher self or Source), you experience positive emotions like joy, enthusiasm, and anticipation. When there's misalignment, negative emotions arise as warning signals - feelings like frustration, worry, or disappointment indicate you're focusing on unwanted aspects.
Rather than monitoring every thought-an impossible task-you can simply pay attention to how you feel. Good feelings indicate you're attracting what you want; bad feelings signal you're attracting what you don't want. For instance, when contemplating a new project, excitement and eagerness suggest alignment with your desires, while anxiety or dread suggests you're focused on potential problems. This emotional guidance system gives you tremendous advantage, allowing you to notice early when you're focused on something unwanted and redirect your thoughts before manifestation occurs.
The Science of Deliberate Creation builds upon this foundation, stating "That which I give thought to and believe or expect-is." Creation involves two parts: launching the thought (desire) and expecting it (allowing). By deliberately offering thoughts about what you want and maintaining positive anticipation, you become a conscious creator rather than creating by default. This might involve visualizing your desired outcome, maintaining a positive expectation, and taking inspired action when opportunities present themselves. For example, if you're seeking a new career, you would focus on the type of work you want to do, expect opportunities to emerge, and remain alert to relevant possibilities that arise.
Capitolo 3
The Creative Workshop: Designing Your Ideal Reality
To harness the Law of Attraction deliberately, Abraham introduces the Creative Workshop-a daily 15-20 minute practice where you focus clearly on what you want while generating confirming emotion from your Inner Being. This structured approach serves as a powerful manifestation tool, combining focused intention with emotional alignment to accelerate the attraction process.
Unlike meditation, which quiets the mind, the Creative Workshop actively engages your imagination to create a detailed vision of your desired life. Begin when you're already in a good mood-perhaps after listening to uplifting music, spending time with pets, or following a morning walk in nature. This positive starting point makes it easier to maintain high vibrations throughout the exercise. The key is to enter the workshop from a place of genuine optimism rather than forcing positivity.
During your Workshop, envision yourself as a complete package of your own creation-energetic, flowing effortlessly through life experiences, attracting harmonious relationships and opportunities. See yourself making empowered choices based on desire rather than financial limitation. Visualize specific scenarios: walking confidently into important meetings, enjoying abundant financial resources, maintaining vibrant health, and surrounding yourself with growth-oriented individuals who appreciate your authentic self. Picture yourself traveling to desired destinations, living in your ideal home, and engaging in fulfilling work that energizes you.
The practice involves all senses - feel the texture of your desired experiences, hear the sounds of success, and immerse yourself in the emotions of living your ideal reality. For example, imagine the feeling of checking your bank account and seeing abundant funds, the joy of helping others from a place of overflow, or the satisfaction of achieving perfect work-life balance.
This daily practice prepares a vision of yourself that attracts the essence of what pleases you, proving there's nothing you cannot be, do, or have. After your Workshop, continue collecting positive examples throughout your day, taking only what you like from each observation. Notice successful people who embody qualities you admire, beautiful locations that inspire you, and experiences that align with your desires.
The power of this approach lies in its ability to shift your vibrational frequency. While casual thoughts without strong emotion have limited magnetic power, those combined with passionate positive emotion become tremendously powerful attractors. Most of our default thoughts merely maintain what we've already attracted, but by deliberately thinking powerful thoughts that evoke passion and excitement, you can intentionally attract health, vitality, prosperity, and positive interactions.
Remember that the Law of Attraction responds to your point of attraction-your thoughts create your feelings, which become your magnetic point of attraction. Feeling poor cannot attract prosperity; feeling fat cannot attract thinness; feeling lonely cannot attract companionship. You must consistently elevate your thoughts beyond current circumstances to attract something different. This requires regular practice and the willingness to feel good even before your desires manifest.

Pivoting: Transforming Negative Thoughts into Positive Attraction
Every subject has two aspects: what you want and the absence of what you want. Examples include abundance/poverty, health/illness, happiness/sadness, and clarity/confusion. Most people habitually "tell it like it is" rather than stating what they desire, which perpetuates unwanted circumstances.
The Pivoting Process offers a powerful solution: consciously recognize that every subject has two aspects, then deliberately speak about the desired aspect. When you catch yourself making a statement contrary to what you want, stop and ask, "What is it that I do want?" Then deliberately make your statement of desire.
For example, transform "I hate this ugly, old car" to "I want a pretty, new, reliable car." Though many would argue that rewording sentences won't change reality, they're wrong. When you consistently focus on what you want, your feelings about the subject shift, indicating a vibrational change. When your vibration shifts, your point of attraction shifts, and by the Law of Attraction, your manifestations must follow.
This practice works because you cannot focus on what you want and don't want simultaneously. Speaking consistently about what you want will eventually change your vibrational balance. Most powerfully, when you ask "What do I want?" after recognizing what you don't want, the answer summons from within you, creating an immediate vibrational shift.
Consider how Esther applied this process when noticing drought affecting her property. Initially, she asked for rain but from a position of lack. When prompted to consider why she wanted rain-for refreshing the earth, providing water for creatures, making grass green, feeling good on skin-her vibration shifted toward the solution rather than the problem. That afternoon it rained, demonstrating the power of focused thought and emotional alignment.
Whenever you're feeling bad, understand you've been conducting a negative Workshop. Gently redirect your thoughts toward what you want to experience. By repeatedly identifying what you do want when encountering what you don't want, your thought patterns will shift. This process gradually builds bridges from unwanted beliefs to desired ones on every important subject.

The Book of Positive Aspects: Training Your Mind for Joy
Another powerful tool for redirecting your thoughts is creating a "Book of Positive Aspects," a deliberate practice of focusing on the good in any situation. This concept emerged from a real-world challenge Jerry and Esther faced with a hotel in Austin that repeatedly mishandled their bookings, despite having signed contracts and making multiple confirmation calls. When Esther naturally suggested finding a new hotel, Abraham provided an insight that would change their approach to problems forever: taking action from a perspective of lack or frustration would simply carry the negative energy forward-they'd "take themselves with them" to any new location.
Instead, Abraham suggested creating a Book of Positive Aspects where Esther meticulously documented everything positive about the hotel: its stunning architecture and beautiful gardens, the immaculate cleanliness of the rooms, the exceptionally convenient location near their business activities, the consistently friendly and professional staff, the comfortable beds, and even the quality of their morning coffee. As Esther deliberately shifted her focus and feelings about the hotel from negative to positive, a remarkable transformation occurred - the booking issues mysteriously resolved themselves.
This practice can be powerfully expanded to all areas of life, from relationships to career challenges to health concerns. When experiencing unwanted situations, the natural tendency to explain, justify, or complain keeps you locked in a negative attraction pattern. Every word spoken about why something isn't working, every complaint shared with friends, every moment spent dwelling on the problem continues and strengthens this negative pattern. The fundamental principle is that you cannot focus on both negative and positive aspects simultaneously - it's physically impossible for your mind to hold both vibrations at once. While identifying problems is an important first step in any improvement process, dwelling on them prevents finding solutions because problems and solutions exist at different vibrational frequencies.
Begin each day by acknowledging positive aspects to establish a vibrational set-point that influences your entire day. Morning is your most receptive and naturally positive vibrational state after sleep's beneficial detachment from unwanted thoughts. Start with simple appreciations: the comfort of your bed, the fresh morning air, the anticipation of your first cup of coffee, or the quiet moments before the day begins. With consistent practice, you'll develop increasing control of your thoughts, vibration, and point of attraction-ultimately shaping your entire life experience.
During sleep, the constant attraction to your physical experience naturally pauses, allowing your Inner Being to realign your energies and replenish your body's resources. The moment of awakening is remarkably similar to being born-it's a fresh re-emergence into physical experience with new potential. If you worry or stress before sleep, you'll likely resume that negative vibration upon waking. Instead, develop the habit of identifying several positive aspects before sleeping, then consciously release all thoughts with the understanding that you'll naturally detach and refresh during slumber. This practice creates a positive momentum that carries forward into the next day.

Money and Abundance: Shifting Your Financial Vibration
While money isn't absolutely essential to your experience, to most people money and freedom are synonymous. Since an awareness of your right to be free is at the core of who you are, your relationship with money becomes one of life's most important subjects. This relationship shapes not just your financial reality but your entire life experience, affecting everything from daily choices to long-term aspirations.
Most people experience far less money than they need or desire, leaving them feeling restricted rather than free. The true insight is that success isn't about the amount of money or things you have-those are meant to enhance your state of being, not define it. When you try to accumulate things or take action from an imbalanced footing to make yourself feel better, you only get further out of balance. For instance, making purchases to temporarily boost your mood or taking a job you dislike solely for the paycheck often leads to deeper dissatisfaction.
To shift your money vibration, Abraham suggests a simple but powerful practice: carry $100 with you always, noticing throughout the day how many things you could exchange it for. By mentally spending that $100 a thousand times, you're vibrationally spending $100,000, dramatically changing your vibrational balance about money. This exercise works because it trains your mind to focus on possibilities rather than limitations. You might notice you could buy several books, treat friends to coffee, purchase supplies for a hobby, or make a charitable donation - each possibility reinforcing abundance rather than scarcity.
This process causes you to feel differently about money, shifting your point of attraction so more money must flow into your experience-it's Law. Using even a smaller amount works as long as you use it to notice how good things are now, because acknowledging your prosperous present ensures your prosperity must increase. The key is maintaining awareness of current abundance rather than fixating on what's lacking.
Those who need money most often have the least success attracting it, while those needing it least succeed most readily. This happens because anyone in a place of lack-regardless of action-attracts more lack. The powerful feeling outweighs any action offered. Action from lack is always counterproductive. Consider someone desperately applying for jobs versus someone confidently exploring opportunities - the energy behind these actions profoundly affects their outcomes.
Belief in finite abundance-that there's not enough to go around-keeps people from allowing financial abundance. It's never another's success that causes your lack, but your negative comparison and attention to what you don't have. What anyone else has or doesn't have is irrelevant to your experience. Only your thought perspective affects your abundance. When you celebrate others' financial success, you align with the energy of abundance. Practicing gratitude for current resources, focusing on opportunities rather than limitations, and maintaining a positive money mindset creates the vibrational conditions for increased prosperity.

Health and Well-Being: Your Body Responds to Your Thoughts
While many define success through monetary achievements or material possessions, true success manifests as a state of sustained joy-and a well-functioning, good-feeling physical body stands as the cornerstone of maintaining overall well-being. Your entire life experience filters through your physical vessel, and when you feel physically vibrant, every aspect of life takes on a more positive hue. This connection between physical wellness and life satisfaction becomes particularly evident in how we navigate daily challenges and opportunities.
Most people remain unaware that chronic complaining-whether about other people, life circumstances, or their own physical conditions-creates a barrier to physical well-being. Even casual negative comments about minor ailments can accumulate into larger health issues over time. The solution, while straightforward, requires consistent practice: deliberately guide your thoughts toward what generates positive feelings and discover the transformative power of vibrational alignment with Source energy. This might involve focusing on activities that bring joy, expressing gratitude for current health, or visualizing optimal physical condition.
Your physical well-being radiates into every aspect of life, yet it remains the easiest subject over which you maintain absolute control. The body responds to thoughts with remarkable speed-faster than any other system in the Universe. While illness often triggers a strong desire for wellness, many people fall into the trap of fixating on their discomfort once sick, thereby extending their recovery period. This creates a self-perpetuating cycle of focusing on unwellness rather than wellness.
Whether health challenges emerge suddenly through accidents or develop gradually through disease, all physical conditions originate from specific thought patterns and beliefs. States of chronic ease and relaxation promote wellness, while persistent stress, harbored resentment, underlying hate, and pervasive fear create conditions for disease. Though achieving excellent health proves easier when starting from a moderate health baseline rather than poor health, you can progress toward your desired state of well-being from any starting point by consciously redirecting focus toward life's pleasing aspects.
The human body comprises trillions of intelligent cells working in harmony toward maintaining balance. Negative thought patterns interfere with this sophisticated natural balancing process, particularly after receiving a medical diagnosis that draws excessive attention to the illness. Since all disease fundamentally stems from vibrational discord, recovery necessitates redirecting thoughts toward positive outcomes and possibilities. This might include visualizing healing, focusing on improvements, or maintaining optimistic expectations about recovery.
Regular medical checkups approached with a problem-seeking mindset can paradoxically create health issues over time through the power of focused thought and expectation. Medical professionals and interventions are neither inherently beneficial nor harmful-their value depends entirely on your vibrational stance and beliefs about their role in your health. The key lies in prioritizing emotional balance first, cultivating and maintaining feeling-good thoughts until they become automatic responses, and then proceeding with whatever medical action feels intuitively right and inspired. This approach combines the best of both internal and external healing modalities.

Relationships: Attracting Joyous Co-creators
Before birth, we understood that relationships would be our greatest source of value, expansion and joy. We came to Earth not to struggle or fix a broken world, but to enjoy an environment of contrast from which we would make increasingly improved choices.
The fundamental error in relationships is caring more about others' opinions than our own feelings. By interacting with people who want us to please them rather than ourselves, we've lost sight of our inner guidance and become disconnected from who-we-are.
To improve your relationships, it's valuable to step back and examine the typical relationship patterns humans experience from birth to death. At birth, part of your Consciousness focused into your physical body, beginning your first relationship: between physical you and Non-Physical You. This Vibrational relationship provides your Emotional Guidance System, gives you access to your Non-Physical counterpart's stable knowledge, allows your expansion to benefit your Non-Physical self, and profoundly affects every other relationship in your life.
While your parents provided your avenue into physical experience, you never intended to look to them for determining your life's purpose. From your Non-Physical perspective, you knew your personal guidance would be more intact at birth than the adults greeting you.
The Art of Allowing means accepting yourself and others as they are, even when they don't accept you. Understanding that others cannot enter your experience unless you invite them through thought provides true freedom. Nothing comes to you unless you invite it through emotional thought and expectation.
To find the "perfect mate," you must first be the perfect mate by consistently emitting a vibrational signal matching your desire. The imperfect relationships you've observed or experienced have helped you define what you want. By focusing on these wanted characteristics, you train your vibration to match your desire. When you point out what you don't like in relationships or remember unpleasant events, you train your vibration away from your desired relationship.
Capitolo 9
The Vortex: Your Vibrational Reality
Every contrasting experience causes expansion, but if you focus on what caused the expansion rather than the expansion itself, you hold yourself in opposition to your growth. The Broader Non-Physical part of you always loves and knows your worthiness, and your happiness depends on keeping up with your own expansion.
As we experience contrast in physical life, we launch vibrational rockets of desire that are immediately received and answered by Source. These desires form our Vibrational Escrow or Vortex of Creation, where the broader part of us becomes the expanded version of what we've asked for.
Every physical manifestation begins as thought, then thought-form, then reality. The only requirement for our desires to manifest physically is that we must enter our Vortex by becoming a vibrational match to our creation through appreciation-particularly self-appreciation, the absence of which keeps more people outside their Vortex than all other thoughts combined.
Abraham outlines the three steps of creation: First, Ask (contrast causes this); Second, Answer (done by Non-Physical Source Energy); Third, Allow (becoming a Vibrational Match to what you're asking for). Humans naturally excel at Step One through focusing and asking with increasing clarity, but often struggle with Step Three.
Life inside the Vortex is sublime. Your point of attraction draws only what you want, and people you encounter perfectly match your highest interests. You'll feel vital, alive, clear-minded, and sure. You'll find the best in others whether they see it or not, and appreciation will ripple through your body as thrilling sensations.
The ultimate self-appreciation comes from Vibrational alignment with Source, but focusing directly on yourself isn't necessary. In fact, it's often easier to enter the Vortex by focusing on subjects that naturally feel good, where you hold no resistant thoughts. Appreciating a pet, for example, can move you right into the Vortex, allowing you to merge with your expanded self.
Choose focal points that feel good, remembering that focusing on "pros" puts you in the Vortex while focusing on "cons" ejects you. Make "Nothing is more important than that I feel good" your guiding principle, and you'll discover the true power of the Law of Attraction to transform every aspect of your life.
