In this phase, you develop a hypothesis about your product, its selling points, distribution channels, and key features. But hypotheses are just that – they need to be tested. You must "get out of the building" and meet with potential customers to validate your assumptions. Often, you'll find that your initial hypotheses are incorrect, and you'll need to adjust your product, pricing, and distribution strategy based on customer feedback. For instance, if you're developing software to help banks with cashing checks, you might find that your initial product isn't flawless but gets the job done quickly.
