All achievement begins with an idea or dream, so to extract from and give to life, you must learn to imagine your life as it should be and make those imaginations reality. Marc Mero, former WWE champion, demonstrates this principle through his habit of recording dreams in a notebook since childhood. His practice of "thinking poz" transformed him from a swimming pool digger to a multi-millionaire wrestler. All great achievers progress through three stages: imagining dreams, visualizing dreams, and planning dreams. The mentoring process works both ways - drawing from others accelerates your progress while pouring into others satisfies your need to help and increases your sense of purpose. They end exhausting days without advancing their dreams because they're devoted to what's urgent rather than what's important. Everything significant ever accomplished came from "a maniac on a mission" - someone with singular focus who wouldn't relent until their consuming goal was achieved. The only real reason people fail is lack of focus - having too many pursuits that conflict with one another. You can do anything you want, but not everything. With only 2,400 thoughts per day and limited time on earth, focusing your thoughts means focusing your life. As Charles Noble said, "First we make our habits, then our habits make us" - and this is especially true of thought habits, which ultimately shape destiny. NASCAR drivers face a powerful lesson in focus: new drivers fear hitting the wall, which becomes their primary mental fixation. The centrifugal force constantly pulls cars toward the wall, making this fear overwhelming. Rookies must be deliberately retrained to focus on the infield instead of the wall because we're drawn toward whatever dominates our thoughts. This principle explains why advertisers spend millions on repetitive messaging - they're creating thought habits through repetition. Modern society worships busyness over effectiveness, diversification over specialization, and variety over simplicity. Though busy people and focused people may both end their days tired, only the focused person can look back at actual progress toward their goals. Focused individuals select activities directly connected to their destinies, while busy people scatter their energy among unrelated pursuits. Greatness requires an undeniable passion that consumes one's thoughts and actions. The common advice against "putting all your eggs in one basket" is based on fear, not wisdom. Greatness demands doing what others won't - thinking outside conventional boundaries and defying "common sense." When I speak with limited givers, they often explain: "If I only had more money, I could give more" - the same excuse many use for putting their personal dreams on hold. Money fuels both ministry and dreams, yet most people struggle under debt and financial obligations that leave nothing for either. However, prosperity is more about mindset than bottom line. Self-made millionaires typically view money differently than average people - and held these attitudes before building wealth. Most became wealthy precisely because of their generous attitude toward money. True prosperity means having enough to do what God calls you to do - not just surviving but thriving, with resources to pursue dreams and assist others. It means having enough to make a difference in the world and fulfill God's call on your life. While financial independence is a primary motivation for most people, money problems remain surprisingly simple to solve, even if difficult to implement. The first step is changing how we think about money. A major mental obstacle to financial independence is the deep-seated belief that money is evil. We pursue it reluctantly because it's essential for survival, while secretly wishing we could live without it. But money itself isn't evil - it's merely a tool with no moral character. Like a brick that can build either a school or a torture chamber, money reveals the hidden desires of people's hearts. It flows toward those who treat it well and flees from those who abuse it. God created wealth to give us choices and to make us His hands in the world, fulfilling His purposes. This is why wealth must be accompanied by generosity to be a positive force in our lives. The Bible never calls money evil - it's the love of money that's problematic. God wants money to remain external to our lives, serving a purpose without becoming an obsession. Bill Gates and Warren Buffet exemplify generosity through their Giving Pledge initiative, which challenges wealthy individuals to commit at least half their wealth to philanthropy. Great people understand money's value, power and purpose - they recognize they've been blessed with good fortune and feel responsible to use those gifts well. To develop wealth for godly generosity, we must first recognize that God wants to bless us. Prosperity is a divine blessing and trust from God. He gives us talents we can convert to money, relationships that build wealth, and opportunities to get ahead. God uses material resources to establish His spiritual kingdom, with money being the fuel that drives ministry. Don't wait until you're rich to be generous - if you can't share $100, you won't share $1 million either. Income level has little to do with generosity - some of the most generous people have limited means, while some of the stingiest have plenty. Mississippi ranks 49th in income but 6th in charitable giving, while New Hampshire ranks 6th in income but 45th in giving. Generosity comes from the heart, not the bank balance. It's habitual, automatic, and followed by joy. The greatest joys from financial success are achieving your purpose, enriching loved ones' lives, and benefiting others through your blessings. Solomon advised building your own house while also building God's house - raising your standard of giving rather than just your standard of living.
