This cattle-herder-turned-millionaire purchased the luxury car for himself and BMWs from the 5 and 3 series for his extended family, paying entirely in cash carried in cardboard boxes. China's thirty-year economic miracle represents countless individual miracles created at the grassroots level. These entrepreneurs dare to think and act boldly, sometimes even illegally, exploiting loopholes in China's slowly developing legal system. Their courage stems from having nothing to lose - "the barefoot do not fear the shod."
