Sull'autore

Colin Ward (1924-2010) è stato un pensatore anarchico d'avanguardia e uno storico sociale, noto soprattutto per Anarchy in Action (L'anarchia come organizzazione), un'opera fondamentale della teoria politica che ha ridefinito l'anarchismo come quadro pratico per la vita quotidiana. Architetto di formazione ed ex redattore delle influenti riviste Freedom (1947-1960) e Anarchy (1961-1970), Ward si specializzò in pianificazione urbana, educazione informale e organizzazione sociale dal basso.

I suoi scritti dimostrano come i principi anarchici del mutuo soccorso e dell'autogestione operino già nelle cooperative edilizie, nelle iniziative comunitarie e nella tutela dell'ambiente, sostenendo che la cooperazione decentralizzata superi in efficacia i sistemi burocratici.

Nel corso della sua carriera cinquantennale, Ward ha scritto più di 30 libri che hanno gettato un ponte tra attivismo e accademia, tra cui The Child in the City (Il bambino e la città) e Housing: An Anarchist Approach.
