    Jackson: Sag mal, Miles, ich hab neulich bei einem Freund gesehen, wie der nach einem echt miesen Tag im Job nach Hause kam, sich kurz geschüttelt hat und dann tiefenentspannt den Abend genossen hat. Ich dachte mir nur: Wie macht der das? Ist das dieses Resilienz-Ding, von dem gerade alle reden?

    Miles: Ja, genau das ist es. Aber weißt du, was viele falsch verstehen? Die denken, das ist so eine Art angeborenes Supertalent, wie die Augenfarbe. Entweder man hat’s oder man hat’s halt nicht. Dabei kommt der Begriff ursprünglich aus der Materialkunde – *resilire* heißt ja eigentlich zurückspringen. Wie ein Gummi, der sich dehnt, aber dann wieder in seine Form findet.

    Jackson: Okay, aber Menschen sind ja keine Gummibänder. Das klingt fast so, als müsste man einfach alles stoisch aushalten.

    Miles: Eben nicht! Das ist genau der Punkt, wo es komplex wird. Es geht nicht nur um die eigene Psyche, sondern auch um das Umfeld. Man darf das nicht nur auf das Individuum abwälzen, so nach dem Motto: „Du bist halt nicht belastbar genug.“ Die Rahmenbedingungen, also der Job oder das soziale Netz, spielen da massiv mit rein. Aber das Spannende ist: Man kann sein Gehirn da echt trainieren, fast wie einen Muskel.

    Jackson: Echt jetzt? Also kann ich das wirklich lernen, auch wenn ich eher der Typ „Nervenbündel“ bin?

    Miles: Absolut. Es gibt da so Untersuchungen, wie die bekannte Kauai-Studie, die schon vor Jahren gezeigt hat, dass man trotz mieser Startbedingungen eine enorme Widerstandskraft entwickeln kann. Unterm Strich ist Resilienz ein dynamischer Prozess. Und da müssen wir mal genauer hinschauen, wie man das im Alltag eigentlich anstellt...
