Gary James Paulsen (1939–2021) était un auteur américain prolifique, auteur de Woodsong et une voix célèbre de la littérature de survie pour jeunes adultes. Cette œuvre autobiographique relate sa transformation à travers ses expériences de traîneau à chiens dans la nature sauvage de l'Alaska, y compris sa participation à l'exténuante course de l'Iditarod, reflétant les thèmes de la survie, de la nature et de la découverte de soi qui définissent son écriture.
