Alan Downs, Ph.D., est l'auteur à succès de The Velvet Rage: Overcoming the Pain of Growing Up Gay in a Straight Man's World et un psychologue clinicien spécialisé dans la santé mentale LGBTQ+. Avec plus de 25 ans d'expérience, le Dr Downs combine son parcours personnel en tant qu'homme gay avec son expertise clinique pour explorer les défis psychologiques de la honte, de l'homophobie intériorisée et des luttes identitaires au sein de la communauté gay.

Son travail fait le pont entre le développement personnel, la psychologie et les études queer, offrant des stratégies concrètes pour la guérison et l'acceptation de soi.

Le Dr Downs a obtenu son doctorat à l'Université du Nebraska-Lincoln et est un thérapeute formé de manière intensive à la thérapie comportementale dialectique (TCD). Il a occupé le poste de PDG du centre de traitement Michael's House et exerce actuellement en cabinet privé à Palm Springs, en Californie.
