Née le 5 décembre 1994 à Philadelphie et ayant grandi dans le comté de Bucks, en Pennsylvanie, Lippincott détient une licence en écriture anglaise de l'Université de Pittsburgh, où un cours sur la littérature de jeunesse a transformé sa trajectoire de carrière.

Lippincott a fait irruption sur la scène littéraire avec Five Feet Apart (2018), une novélisation vendue à plus d'un million d'exemplaires, restée 60 semaines sur la liste des meilleures ventes du New York Times, et adaptée en un film majeur réalisé par Justin Baldoni.
