Naomi Novik est l'auteure à succès du New York Times de Sa Majesté des Dragons et une maîtresse de la fantasy et de l'uchronie. Née à New York en 1973 et bercée par les contes de fées polonais et l'œuvre de Tolkien, elle apporte des racines littéraires profondes à sa réinterprétation « Flintlock Fantasy » des guerres napoléoniennes avec des dragons.

Son premier roman a lancé la célèbre série de neuf livres Téméraire, remportant le prix Compton Crook et recevant une nomination au prix Hugo, tandis que l'omnibus de la série a reçu le prix Locus du meilleur premier roman.
