Jeff Lindsay

Né(e): July 14, 1952 – Miami, Florida, United States

Jeff Lindsay is an American crime novelist and playwright best known for the Dexter series, which began with Darkly Dreaming Dexter and inspired Showtime’s hit television adaptation Dexter. His work blends dark humor, psychological suspense, and serial-killer fiction, reaching a wide international audience through both novels and screen adaptation.

Biographie et Parcours de l'Auteur

Jeff Lindsay, the pen name of Jeffry P. Freundlich, grew up in Florida and graduated from Middlebury College in 1975 before taking a notably circuitous path into literary fame. Long before he was known for crime fiction, he worked across performance, media, and teaching, spending time as a musician in the Los Angeles club scene, an employee of Steve Allen, a story analyst and script doctor, a screenwriter, a playwright, and a college-level writing instructor. He also collaborated on film and television projects with his wife, Hilary Hemingway, building a career that mixed stagecraft, comic timing, and narrative craft well before his breakthrough as a novelist.
