Discover a practical framework for proving the value of product operations through both quantitative metrics and qualitative feedback, helping you break the negative feedback loop of resource constraints.

Nia: Hey Miles, I've been thinking about something that's been bothering a lot of product operations teams lately. How do you actually measure success when so much of what you do is about enabling others?
Miles: That's such a critical question, Nia. From what I've seen, it's one of the top challenges product ops professionals face. In fact, in interviews with over two dozen product ops pros, "proving the value of product ops" was consistently mentioned as both a priority and a major challenge.
Nia: Right! And it creates this negative feedback loop, doesn't it? If you can't prove your value, you can't get resources, which makes it harder to deliver value, which makes it harder to prove your worth...
Miles: Exactly. And what's fascinating is that when these professionals were asked how they measure success, there was this incredibly wide range of responses—from quantitative metrics to qualitative feedback to, and I quote, "still figuring this out."
Nia: That doesn't surprise me at all. I mean, how do you measure something as intangible as "making the product team more efficient" or "improving cross-functional collaboration"?
Miles: You know, that's where I think we need to get strategic. The most successful product ops teams are approaching this from multiple angles—looking at both hard metrics like time saved and adoption rates, as well as qualitative feedback from the teams they support. Let's break down a practical framework for measuring product ops success that any team can implement starting today.
