Esta función ejecutiva no trabaja sola; es parte de un trío esencial junto a la memoria de trabajo--que retiene la información necesaria--y el control inhibitorio, que es ese freno de mano que nos permite dominar impulsos y filtrar distracciones antes de actuar. Cuando estas tres dimensiones operan en armonía, logramos lo que se conoce como inteligencia fluida: esa habilidad para resolver problemas nuevos sin depender de lo que ya sabemos de memoria.
