Über den Autor von Das Schloss

Franz Kafka (1883-1924) ist der visionäre deutschsprachige Autor von Das Schloss und einer der einflussreichsten Schriftsteller der Literatur des 20. Jahrhunderts. Geboren in Prag in eine deutschsprachige jüdische Familie, studierte Kafka Jura und arbeitete in einer Versicherung, während er seine Abende dem Schreiben widmete.

Sein Werk verbindet meisterhaft Realismus mit dem Surrealen und erforscht Themen wie Entfremdung, bürokratische Absurdität und existenzielle Angst durch isolierte Protagonisten, die mit unbegreiflichen Systemen konfrontiert sind. Kafka schrieb Das Schloss im Jahr 1922, doch es blieb bei seinem Tod durch Tuberkulose im Jahr 1924 unvollendet.

Sein enger Freund Max Brod veröffentlichte postum seine Hauptwerke, darunter Das Schloss (1926), Der Process und Die Verwandlung, und widersetzte sich damit Kafkas Bitte, die Manuskripte zu vernichten. Der Begriff „kafkaesk“ ist in den weltweiten Wortschatz eingegangen, um die in seiner Fiktion dargestellten absurden Situationen zu beschreiben.
