All sensory systems are processing information simultaneously, but only certain portions enter consciousness. Rather than labeling oneself as primarily visual, auditory, or kinesthetic, one should recognize their most developed system and work to develop the others with equal refinement. Good spellers universally use the same strategy: they visualize the word and verify accuracy with a kinesthetic check. Teaching this specific process, rather than content, allows anyone to become a good speller automatically.
