Geboren: November 04, 1954 – Los Angeles, California, United States
Stan Tatkin is an American psychotherapist, researcher, and teacher specializing in couples therapy, attachment, and interpersonal neurobiology. He developed A Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT) and wrote Wired for Love, Wired for Dating, We Do, and In Each Other’s Care. Through the PACT Institute, he has trained clinicians internationally.
Stan Tatkin built his career at the intersection of clinical psychology, attachment theory, and neuroscience. Educated in Southern California, he studied at Pepperdine University’s Malibu campus, earned a Bachelor of Liberal Arts with an emphasis in clinical psychology and then a master’s in clinical psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles, and completed a PsyD in clinical psychology at Ryokan College. Early in his career he worked extensively with adolescents and adults facing personality disorders and addiction, including clinical roles at the Bradshaw Center and Charter Hospital. The decisive turn in his professional life came when his interests moved from individual pathology toward the psychoneurobiology of intimate bonds, especially the ways early attachment patterns and arousal states shape adult romantic relationships.
