David McRaney

Geboren: March 22, 1977 – Hattiesburg, Mississippi, United States

David McRaney is an American science writer and journalist whose work explores psychology, self-delusion, cognitive biases, persuasion, and behavior change. He is best known for You Are Not So Smart, You Are Now Less Dumb, and How Minds Change, and for creating and hosting the You Are Not So Smart podcast.

Biografie & Werdegang des Autors

David McRaney’s path to becoming a widely read science writer was shaped less by a straight academic ladder than by journalism, regional reporting, and a series of practical jobs that sharpened his eye for how people explain themselves. Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, in 1977 and raised in Sumrall, he attended Jones County Junior College, ran a pet store for a time, and later studied journalism at the University of Southern Mississippi. There he served as executive editor of The Student Printz and earned national recognition for college journalism. After graduating in 2007, he moved into professional reporting and digital media work, including roles at the Hattiesburg American and WDAM-TV, where he also helped produce the music program The Green Couch Sessions.
