Kiyosaki, born in Hilo, Hawaii, in 1947 to a Japanese-American family, grew up in an academically rich environment shaped by his father, Ralph Kiyosaki, who served as the head of education in Hawaii. After excelling at Hilo High School, he attended the United States Merchant Marine Academy in New York, graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
