Born: October 13, 1964 – Beirut, Beirut Governorate, Lebanon
Gad Saad is a Canadian evolutionary behavioral scientist, marketing professor, and author whose work examines consumer behavior, psychology, and the application of evolutionary theory to culture. He is the author of The Consuming Instinct and The Parasitic Mind, and reaches broad audiences through lectures, media appearances, and his podcast, The Saad Truth.
Gad Saad was born in Beirut in 1964 and spent his childhood in Lebanon before his family resettled in Montreal during the Lebanese civil war. He would later draw on that refugee experience in his public writing and interviews. In Canada, he followed a more traditional academic path before becoming a widely known public intellectual, earning a BSc in mathematics and computer science and an MBA from McGill University, followed by an MS and PhD in marketing from Cornell. He went on to join Concordia University, where he became Professor of Marketing and later held the Concordia University Research Chair in Evolutionary Behavioral Sciences and Darwinian Consumption from 2008 to 2018.
