生年: July 06, 1961 – The Bronx, New York, United States
Elizabeth Kolbert is an American journalist and author focused on climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental science. She wrote The Sixth Extinction, which won the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction, and Under a White Sky. As a longtime New Yorker staff writer, she has shaped public understanding of humanity’s impact on the planet.
Elizabeth Kolbert’s career did not begin in environmental writing so much as arrive there through reporting, observation, and a growing sense that some stories outlast the daily political cycle. Raised first in the Bronx and then in Larchmont, New York, she graduated from Mamaroneck High School, studied literature at Yale, and held a Fulbright fellowship at the University of Hamburg. She started at The New York Times, where she worked as a reporter, served as Albany bureau chief, and wrote the Metro Matters column. After moving to The New Yorker in 1999, she began looking for subjects with a longer shelf life. A 2001 trip to Greenland became the crucial turning point, pushing her toward climate and science reporting. ((https://www.mamaroneckhistoricalsociety.org/directors-writers))
