Casey McQuiston is an American author of queer romance and young adult fiction, best known for Red, White & Royal Blue, One Last Stop, and I Kissed Shara Wheeler. Their debut became a New York Times bestseller and was adapted into a film, bringing McQuiston’s work to a broad mainstream audience.
Casey McQuiston is an American novelist whose fiction grew out of a Southern upbringing, a strong reading life, and an early sense that storytelling was the work they most wanted to do. Born and raised in southern Louisiana, McQuiston grew up in a family of readers and attended a conservative evangelical Christian school from kindergarten through twelfth grade, an experience they have said left them wanting the kind of queer love stories they could not easily find as a teenager. They later earned a journalism degree from Louisiana State University and spent their early professional years in magazine and local-media writing, work that helped shape the brisk, humorous, highly contemporary voice that would become central to their novels.
