Ana Huang grew up in a Chinese immigrant household, born in New York and raised in Miami, where English was not the main language at home. Her mother asked her to write a short story in English each day, a practice that began as language training and became the foundation of her literary life. As a teenager she wrote online, building an early readership on Wattpad under the username ACRL37. She studied international relations in college and, after a period working in communications in corporate America, went quiet creatively for a few years before the 2020 lockdown pushed her back toward fiction.
