Abby Jimenez is an American romance novelist known for contemporary love stories that blend humor, grief, and mental-health themes. Her notable books include The Friend Zone, Part of Your World, Yours Truly, and Just for the Summer. She is a New York Times bestselling author and founder of Nadia Cakes.
Abby Jimenez built her career in two distinct public acts, first as a baker and entrepreneur, then as a bestselling romance novelist. Born in Washington, D.C., and raised partly in Virginia before moving to California, she grew up in a financially strained household and, after her mother left when she was young, took on adult responsibilities early. She finished high school through independent study so she could work full time, and she has spoken about not having the money to attend college. After years in retail and food-service jobs, she was laid off while pregnant with her third child, took cake-decorating classes, and in 2007 started Nadia Cakes from her home kitchen. The business expanded into a brick-and-mortar bakery, won national attention through Food Network’s Cupcake Wars, and helped establish the pragmatic, self-made identity that would later carry into her fiction.
