    Viewing problems as solutions means recognizing that behaviors we now label as 'glitches'—like a quick temper or overeating—were often brilliant strategies developed to navigate difficult situations in the past. Instead of seeing yourself as a broken person, this perspective allows you to see a survivor who used specific tools to stay safe. By reframing these behaviors as outdated psychological solutions, you can move from harsh self-criticism toward a more productive state of self-curiosity.

    Reframing helps reduce self-criticism by changing the fundamental question we ask ourselves from "What is wrong with me?" to "What was this behavior trying to solve for me back then?" This shift in perspective turns judgment into understanding. When you realize that your current struggles were once necessary coping mechanisms for a different environment, it fosters a much kinder way to live and promotes personal growth through self-curiosity rather than self-blame.

    We often hold onto these behaviors because they were once the only tools available to keep us safe, much like carrying a hammer from a world of stone into a room full of glass. These coping mechanisms were effective solutions for deeper issues at one point in time. While they may now appear as problems or glitches in our system, they remain part of our behavioral repertoire because they were originally developed as essential survival strategies for navigating a difficult world.
