Advanced AI models use a combination of text analysis and "audio style" features to identify the "fingerprint" of a sound. By analyzing "RMS energy" (loudness) and "MFCCs" (the power spectrum of sound), the system can tell the difference between a friend jokingly using a reclaimed word in a playful tone and a slur yelled in anger. This "tone check" significantly reduces false positives, with research showing that adding audio analysis can drop the error rate from 6% to just 1%.
Proportionality is a moderation strategy that moves away from a one-size-fits-all "ban hammer" in favor of severity tiers.
