Steven D. Levitt

出生: May 29, 1967 – Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States

Steven D. Levitt is an American economist and author whose work explores incentives, crime, education, and everyday social behavior through data-driven analysis. Best known for co-authoring Freakonomics and SuperFreakonomics with Stephen J. Dubner, he won the John Bates Clark Medal in 2003, and Freakonomics sold millions of copies worldwide.

传记与作者历程

Steven D. Levitt built his reputation first inside academic economics and then far beyond it. Educated at Harvard and MIT, he joined the University of Chicago faculty in 1997 and became known for applied microeconomics that used natural experiments to study crime, corruption, education, and other social questions that conventional theory often treated more abstractly. That early work, recognized with the 2003 John Bates Clark Medal, established the pattern that would define his public voice as well: a willingness to ask odd, concrete questions, follow incentives, and let data unsettle received wisdom.
