Caroline Myss is an American author and speaker whose work focuses on spirituality, energy medicine, intuition, and personal healing. She is best known for the bestselling books Anatomy of the Spirit and Sacred Contracts, which helped popularize mind-body-spirit approaches and established her as a prominent voice in contemporary spiritual self-help.
Caroline Myss emerged from a mid-century Chicago Catholic world that would shape both her vocabulary and her ambitions. Born in 1952 and raised in a large Polish American family, she has described an early life steeped in prayer, symbolism, and a strong sense that the invisible dimensions of experience mattered. She first trained in journalism, then completed a master’s degree in theology in Chicago. A decisive turn came in the early 1980s, when she moved to New Hampshire, co-founded Stillpoint Publishing, and worked as an editor while her intuitive practice took clearer form. Her collaboration with neurosurgeon C. Norman Shealy helped move that work into print and public view through The Creation of Health, establishing the blend of spirituality, healing language, and teaching that would define her career.
