Explore King Tut’s new home at the Grand Egyptian Museum. Discover how 5,000 artifacts from the Tutankhamun collection are being reunited on the Giza Plateau.

The Grand Egyptian Museum is more than just a building; it is a promise kept to the past, providing a state-of-the-art stage for over 5,000 artifacts that haven't been seen together since they were sealed away over three millennia ago.
The Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, focusing specifically on the full collection of King Tutankhamun's artifacts and how they are displayed in the new venue.

The Grand Egyptian Museum, or GEM, represents a total transformation in how we interact with ancient Egyptian history. For the first time since Howard Carter discovered the tomb in 1922, the entire Tutankhamun collection of over 5,000 artifacts is being housed in one place. This state-of-the-art facility on the Giza Plateau allows the items to be arranged in a way that truly tells the story of the boy king’s life and his journey to the afterlife.
While the old Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square served as a home for these treasures for a century, its cramped corridors only allowed a fraction of the legacy to be viewed. The new Grand Egyptian Museum is a meticulously designed architectural stage located just two kilometers from the Great Pyramids. It offers a much larger and more modern space to display the full collection of King Tut artifacts that haven't been seen together for over three millennia.
The Tutankhamun collection has undergone one of the most significant museum relocations of the 21st century, moving from central Cairo to the Giza Plateau. The new site is situated within the Grand Egyptian Museum, a triangular structure designed to align perfectly with the Great Pyramid of Khufu and the Pyramid of Menkaure. This location places the boy king's treasures in close proximity to the iconic pyramids, creating a powerful connection between the artifacts and the landscape.
