Jeffrey A. Kottler is a counseling psychologist, educator, and prolific author whose work centers on psychotherapy, counselor development, self-care, and social justice. He is known for books such as On Being a Therapist and Theories of Counseling and Therapy, and has written more than 100 books widely used in counselor education.

経歴と著者の歩み

Jeffrey A. Kottler’s career grew out of an uneasy beginning. In interviews, he has described himself as a shy, insecure child dealing with vision, learning, self-esteem, and family problems. Writing became the first major turning point: he discovered in language a way to make sense of his inner life and to use personal suffering as a bridge to other people. He later studied at Oakland University, Harvard University, and the University of Stockholm, earned a master’s in counseling from Wayne State University, and completed a PhD in counseling psychology at the University of Virginia.
