    No, research suggests that the body does not build up a "tolerance" to the medication where it simply stops working. However, there is one critical exception: it must never be taken with nitrates, such as nitroglycerin used for chest pain. This combination can cause a life-threatening drop in blood pressure. Because tadalafil stays in the system for up to 36 hours, users must wait at least 48 hours after their last dose before receiving emergency nitrates.

    Yes, daily low-dose tadalafil offers several systemic benefits. It is FDA-approved to treat urinary symptoms related to prostate enlargement (BPH), such as frequent nighttime urination. Additionally, because it improves blood flow and endothelial function, research has shown it may help reduce nerve pain in diabetic neuropathy and potentially improve blood sugar control (HbA1c levels) by making the body more sensitive to insulin.

    Daily tadalafil is not an "overnight miracle" and requires a build-up phase. It typically takes about four to five days for the medication to reach a steady, constant level in the bloodstream. Doctors generally recommend that patients try the medication during at least five separate instances of sexual activity before determining if the dose is effective. Unlike "as-needed" medications, the daily dose is designed to provide "continuous readiness" rather than a short-term window of effectiveness.
