Learn how to leverage your Marines experience to overcome past GPA issues and successfully transfer from Broward College to FAMU using Florida's 2+2 program while maximizing your VA benefits.

Your high school performance becomes much less relevant once you've got military experience and some college credits under your belt. It's not starting over—it's applying proven skills to a new objective.
I’m starting college this fall at Broward college and I’m wondering how it’ll go. I have a 2.1 GPA in high school cause I was a football Rodrick heffley. But I’m in the marines now with a TS clearance cause of my 0511 contract. so I want use the 2+2 rule from my home state to go to FAMU and get paid to hit on girls and go to football venues at FSU if it’s a top match up. Joined 03/11/2024 -03/11/2029 if not early cause I’m pushing for 100 VA aswell. What’s my plan looking like?

Lena: Hey Miles, I was talking to a listener the other day who's in a situation I think a lot of people can relate to. They're finishing up military service with the Marines and looking to leverage that experience into college success through a 2+2 program. But they're worried about their high school GPA holding them back.
Miles: That's actually perfect timing because the 2+2 pathway is such a powerful option, especially for veterans. A lot of people don't realize that your high school performance becomes much less relevant once you've got military experience and some college credits under your belt.
Lena: Right! And Florida's 2+2 program specifically guarantees admission to state universities like FAMU if you complete an Associate's degree at a Florida College System school like Broward College first. It's like a fresh academic start.
Miles: Exactly. And what's particularly interesting for our listener is that FAMU has specific transfer agreements with Broward College. Plus, with that military background and security clearance, they've already demonstrated skills that colleges value—discipline, focus, responsibility.
Lena: I think what surprised me most was learning that the VA benefits can actually make this pathway incredibly affordable. But there are some specific requirements and deadlines our listener needs to know about, right?
Miles: Absolutely. The transfer process has several moving parts, from GPA requirements to application deadlines. Let's break down exactly how the 2+2 program works and the specific steps our listener should take to maximize their military benefits while creating a clear path to FAMU.
