Steven George Mandis est l'auteur de What Happened to Goldman Sachs: An Insider's Story of Organizational Drift and its Unintended Consequences et un ancien cadre de Goldman Sachs ayant travaillé au sein de la firme de 1992 à 2004 dans les secteurs de la banque d'investissement, du capital-investissement et du trading pour compte propre. Sa perspective d'initié, combinée à une recherche sociologique rigoureuse issue de son doctorat à Columbia, lui confère une autorité unique sur la culture d'entreprise et le changement organisationnel dans le secteur des services financiers.

Après Goldman, Mandis a cofondé une société de gestion d'actifs alternatifs de plusieurs milliards de dollars, a conseillé McKinsey & Company et a occupé le poste de chef de cabinet du président de Citigroup. Il enseigne actuellement en tant que professeur associé adjoint en finance et économie à la Columbia Business School. Mandis est l'auteur de deux autres livres primés : The Real Madrid Way (2016), qui a remporté l'International Book Award for Sports en 2017, et What Happened to Serie A (2018).
