À propos de l'auteur

Eric Berne (1910–1970) était un psychiatre et psychologue pionnier canado-américain, auteur de l'ouvrage fondamental Analyse Transactionnelle et Psychothérapie, établissant sa réputation de créateur de l'Analyse Transactionnelle (AT).

Formé à l'Institut psychanalytique de New York et influencé par Paul Federn, Berne a développé l'AT après avoir été rejeté par les cercles psychanalytiques traditionnels. Il a conçu un cadre révolutionnaire pour comprendre les interactions humaines à travers les états du moi (Parent, Adulte, Enfant).

Son best-seller de 1964, Des jeux et des hommes (Games People Play), a popularisé les concepts de l'AT à l'échelle mondiale, se vendant à plus de cinq millions d'exemplaires et étant traduit en 18 langues. Les réflexions cliniques de Berne sont issues de décennies de recherche en thérapie de groupe, documentées dans Structure et dynamique des organisations et des groupes et Que dites-vous après avoir dit bonjour ?

L'œuvre de Berne demeure fondamentale en psychothérapie et en développement organisationnel, les principes de l'AT étant appliqués dans le conseil, la formation en entreprise et les études comportementales. Des jeux et des hommes est devenu un phénomène culturel, figurant dans les programmes universitaires et adapté en productions théâtrales, scellant l'héritage de Berne en tant que figure transformatrice de la psychologie du XXe siècle.
