Yan Xuetong est un professeur distingué et le doyen de l'Institut des relations internationales de l'université Tsinghua. Expert renommé en sciences politiques et en relations internationales, il est surtout connu pour ses travaux pionniers dans le développement de la théorie du réalisme moral.

Yan Xuetong a obtenu son doctorat à l'université de Californie à Berkeley et sa maîtrise à l'Université des relations internationales. Ses publications précédentes incluent « Ancient Chinese Thought, Modern Chinese Power », qui a reçu de nombreux prix et l'a établi comme une voix de premier plan dans son domaine.
