Johannes Erwin Eugen Rommel (1891–1944) était un Generalfeldmarschall allemand et l'auteur de L'Infanterie attaque (Infanterie greift an), un manuel classique de tactique militaire qui l'a établi comme l'un des stratèges les plus innovants du XXe siècle. Publié en 1937, l'ouvrage s'appuie sur son service distingué lors de la Première Guerre mondiale, où il a obtenu la plus haute distinction militaire d'Allemagne, l'ordre Pour le Mérite, pour son commandement audacieux sur le front italien.

L'Infanterie attaque synthétise les expériences de combat direct de Rommel en leçons pratiques sur la guerre de mouvement, le leadership agressif et la flexibilité tactique.
