Louis Fischer (1896–1970) était un journaliste et historien politique de renom, surtout connu comme l'auteur de Gandhi : La vie du Mahatma Gandhi, une biographie faisant autorité qui explore les thèmes de la résistance non-violente, du colonialisme et du leadership moral.

Originaire de Philadelphie, Fischer a assis son expertise grâce à 14 années passées comme correspondant à Moscou, analysant la politique soviétique dans des ouvrages tels que The Soviets in World Affairs et La Vie de Lénine.
