Eleanor Catton, l'autrice lauréate du prix Booker pour Birnam Wood, est renommée pour ses romans à la structure ambitieuse et à la richesse thématique.

Née au Canada en 1985 et ayant grandi en Nouvelle-Zélande, Catton a accédé à une renommée mondiale avec Les Luminaires (2013), un mystère se déroulant au XIXe siècle qui a remporté le Man Booker Prize et le Prix littéraire du Gouverneur général.

Son troisième roman, Birnam Wood, fusionne la tension de l'éco-thriller avec une critique sociale acérée, explorant l'activisme climatique, l'ambiguïté morale et le pouvoir des entreprises. Diplômée du programme d'écriture créative de l'Université Victoria de Wellington, Catton écrit également des scénarios, ayant adapté Les Luminaires en mini-série pour la BBC et Emma de Jane Austen pour le cinéma.
