Edmund Morris was a South African-born American biographer and historian known for vivid studies of U.S. presidents and inventors. Biografía y Trayectoria del Autor

Edmund Morris was a biographer and essayist whose career joined literary flair to historical ambition. Born in Nairobi in 1940 to South African parents, he was educated in Kenya and later studied music, art, and literature at Rhodes University in South Africa. His early adult years took him first into advertising in London, where he learned the compression, rhythm, and persuasive force of prose, and then to the United States in 1968. That move proved decisive. Morris later suggested that writing about Theodore Roosevelt became, in part, a way for an immigrant to educate himself about America through one of its most kinetic national figures. From that turning point came the work that established him: The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt, published in 1979, which won both the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award.
