Terry Lee Goodkind (1948–2020) war der Bestsellerautor von Das erste Gesetz der Magie und der epischen Fantasy-Serie Das Schwert der Wahrheit, die mit ihrer philosophischen Tiefe und ihrem umfassenden Worldbuilding die moderne heroische Fantasy neu definierte. Geboren in Omaha, Nebraska, überwand Goodkind eine Legasthenie und besaß keine formale Ausbildung über die Highschool hinaus.
