James Islington ist der australische Bestsellerautor von Das Schattenrätsel (Original: The Shadow of What Was Lost) und ein aufstrebender Star der epischen Fantasy-Literatur.

Islington wurde 1981 geboren und wuchs in Victoria auf. Er wurde durch das Lesen von Brandon Sandersons Mistborn-Reihe und Patrick Rothfuss' Der Name des Windes zum Schreiben inspiriert. Bevor er hauptberuflich Autor wurde, leitete er ein Tech-Startup, begann aber im Alter von 30 Jahren ernsthaft mit dem Schreiben.
