The greatest gift any ragamuffin receives is the Abba experience - approaching God with childlike simplicity, crawling into His arms. Manning concludes by sharing his own identity as "Abba's Ragamuffin," the epitaph he wants on his tombstone. This identity shapes his intimacy with God, relationships with others, and gentleness with himself. The ragamuffin gospel continues to scandalize, particularly among legalists and moral crusaders who take offense at the freedom of God's children.
